Edward Holmes Martin was born Sept. 30, 1931, in Savannah, Ga., the youngest of three children to DeCourcey Martin and Caroline White (Holmes) Martin. William Davis Clarke, died May 23, in Renton, Wash. Clarke joined the Foreign Service and served in Germany, Cte dIvoire, Japan, Panama, France, and Egypt, and he served as ambassador in Eritrea.
